Sandra Kemmann, born in the Rhineland in 1970, is a German painter and mixed-media artist based in Berlin. She studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and worked as an assistant to sculptor Egbert Mainzer, experiences that sharpened her sensitivity to material, spatial structure, and physical process. Her practice has developed through sustained experimentation rather than adherence to a fixed stylistic system.

Kemmann’s abstract work explores the dynamic relationship between order and chaos. Her two interconnected approaches, LINIENTREU and KEMMANIA, move between disciplined repetition and intuitive disruption. Hand-drawn lines, grids, layered structures, and modular systems generate dense visual fields, while freer gestures, colour, and overlapping forms loosen and transform these structures. Repetition, accumulation, and revision make time visible within the surface, creating a tension between precision and spontaneity, stability and change.

Her work has gained increasing international visibility. In 2026, a major selection from LINIENTREU and KEMMANIA was presented in Time & Being at the Museums of the Castle and Residential City of Greiz, Germany. Further presentations include Cogitatio Artium at Kunsthaus Weiz, Austria, and an international exhibition at Hong Art Museum in Chongqing, China, during the 2026-27 season. In addition, her work has been featured in international art publications, including Visual Art Journal #46 and the art magazine PARNASS.
