Andreas Peters, born in Hamburg in 1965 and based in Ahrensburg, Germany, is an artist, photographer, and author whose multidisciplinary practice is shaped by curiosity, independence, and a lifelong commitment to creativity. Largely self-taught as a photographer, he began taking photographs as a child and later developed a strong interest in landscape and portrait photography. His extensive travels further sharpened his awareness of nature, cultural diversity, and the value of observing the world with patience and openness.

At the center of Peters’s artistic practice is Abstract Organic Macro Art (AOMA), a photographic approach that he developed to bring painting and photography together. Describing his process with the words “I paint with my camera,” he combines organic materials and light to create vibrant, highly detailed worlds on a macro scale. His finished photographs are produced directly in the camera, without digital effects or artificial intelligence. Their rich colors, depth, and dynamic structures often appear painterly, inviting viewers to question whether they are looking at a photograph or a painted composition.

Peters’s broader creative practice also encompasses painting, drawing, writing, publishing, and digital creation. As the author of several books, he travelled through fourteen countries while researching Von der Kunst, nichts zu wollen, a project concerned with philosophical and spiritual questions, environmental awareness, social inequality, and the search for a slower, more conscious way of living. These experiences are closely connected to his visual work, in which discovery and attentiveness play a central role.

Rather than prescribing a fixed interpretation, Peters creates intricate visual spaces that each viewer can explore individually. His works seek to evoke emotion and encourage moments of stillness, wonder, and contemplation. Through the interaction of form, color, organic matter, and light, he opens abstract worlds in which personal associations and new perspectives can emerge.

Andreas Peters
