aka Martin Günther MÜller

QMARTIN aka Martin Günter Müller was born on November 24, 1969, in Grafenau in the Bavarian Forest. From an early age, he developed a deep sense of ambivalence between freedom and security — a grounded sense of belonging combined with a strong curiosity for the unknown.

His artistic journey began more than 30 years ago, initially using early digital tools such as Windows 3.11 and PowerPoint. Fascinated by visual effects from films like Terminator and Jurassic World, he set out to create imaginative, otherworldly visuals that pushed beyond conventional boundaries. Computers and 3D software have since become essential tools in his work, offering possibilities beyond physical limitations and allowing him to become a true creator of new worlds.

Müller’s art is deeply rooted in emotional experience and social awareness. His inspiration comes from a wide range of sources — politics, newspapers, and personal feelings. For him, art is a vital outlet, especially in moments of sadness or anger. While some turn to sports or confrontation to release emotions, Müller turns to creativity. His work is a means of transforming negative energy into something constructive and meaningful.

His practice often explores themes of knowledge, connection, and understanding. Underlying much of his work is a strong belief in empathy and communication as essential tools for navigating complex human experiences. He aims to spark curiosity and critical thinking while also offering emotional resonance and insight.

Martin Günter Müller had his first exhibition in 2006 at the Bank-Volksbank in Warstein. Since then, he has held 13 exhibitions across Germany, as well as international exhibitions in Warsaw and at Princeton University in the USA. Between 2020 and 2024, he was a regular participant in the Luxembourg Art Prize.

Müller lives with his family in Gröbenzell and has exhibited his work in numerous cities, including Munich, Höhenried, Seefeld, Wrocław, Athens, Montreal, Paris and his hometown of Grafenau. His greatest artistic influences include H. R. Giger, Zdzisław Beksiński and Francisco Goya.

H. R. GigerZdzisław BeksińskiFrancisco Goya
