Tatjana

Kühnal

(Germany)

From the age of one, Tatjana Kühnal discovered a passion for painting that has remained central throughout her life. In fifth grade, she received her first foundational art lessons from a dedicated art teacher. At 17, she moved to Germany, where she initially attended language courses and navigated the challenging transition into the German education system, working in a Catholic preschool. During this time, she deepened her skills in drawing, focusing on pencil, graphite, and charcoal techniques. She later began exploring portrait drawing, dedicating several years to mastering graphite and pencil work.

At 22, she started training to become an early childhood educator, during which time she met her future husband. They married in 2005. She then decided to attend a design school for a year and completed an internship with an interior decorator. Shortly thereafter, she became pregnant and embraced motherhood, giving birth to her first son in 2007, followed by a daughter in 2009, and her youngest son in 2011. For several years, she devoted herself fully to her family, finding fulfillment in this role. Throughout this period, she continued her artistic development in a different way, engaging creatively through painting, crafting, and organizing workshops such as children’s birthday parties.

Her artistic involvement gradually attracted attention from other parents, leading her to spontaneously offer art courses for children. When a nearby stationery store closed, she took over the business and began selling her artworks alongside stationery and art supplies while also conducting courses. Concurrently, she continued to develop as an artist. Through participation in exhibitions, art fairs, and markets, and with support from many fellow artists and acquaintances, she gained valuable experience that enriched her creative work. She also engaged voluntarily with the Limburg-Weilburg-Diez Junior Chamber of Commerce, where she expanded her network, grew professionally as a managing director, and received a silver pin in recognition of her contributions.

In 2018, the family purchased a house, which they renovated themselves according to their tastes. Since 2020, she has operated her studio and offered painting and crafting courses there. In February 2025, an additional gallery space was completed. Several exhibitions and events have already taken place successfully on the premises, which has become a hub for art and artists in the region, fostering new connections. She continues to seek new inspirations, opportunities, and experiences.

Her personal philosophy is: “The journey is the destination.” This mindset guides her artistic and life path as she strives to embrace as much experience as possible along the way.
